Grandpa, in your memory – I will live differently

When I decided to explore my relationship with money, I did not expect how deeply this experience would reach. I grew up in a large family, where as was often the case in Poland in the 1990s life was modest. Although we had what we needed, one belief was stored in my subconscious: poverty equals safety.

During the constellation, a hidden dynamic in my family system became visible. The image of my grandfather appeared – a young boy who, during the war, was taken to a labour camp in Germany. There he experienced hunger, violence, and exhausting work. My father worked hard all his life and often said that one must work very hard to survive and achieve anything. Like him, I also carried this belief, out of love and loyalty to my ancestors.

At one point in the constellation, a sentence arose that touched me deeply:

“Grandfather, in your memory, I will work lightly – with joy and love. From my heart, I will show you what my world looks like.”

In that moment, I felt deep peace and gratitude. Because acknowledging an ancestor’s suffering and receiving their fate with respect is one of the most beautiful and healing experiences we can have. Instead of continuing to carry the burden, we can finally allow love and blessing to flow from the past toward us.

Often our ancestors never wanted us to repeat their fate. From a different perspective, they feel proud when we live more lightly, more fully, and with joy. Isn’t it wonderful to experience such a meeting with them in our hearts?
